Created with 32 people across the globe, Past Portals to Future Worlds explores how creative practice and intergenerational wisdom can help us imagine more humane migration futures.  

Over a Whatsapp group, participants were invited to:
 

• Listen to a piece of music from their grandparents’ generation and create an artwork expressing the wisdom it offered.

 

• Photograph something in their local environment that could serve as a portal to another world, then create a second artwork imagining the future world on the other side — inspired by the wisdom uncovered through the first prompt.
   

Each contribution  includes the selected song, an artistic and written reflection on the wisdom it evoked, an image of a portal found in the participant’s local environment, and a future-world artwork imagining what lies beyond it.
 

Together, these works offer glimpses into migration futures shaped through music, memory, photography and speculative imagination.
